Over 230 athletes are set to compete in this year’s national youth athletics championship scheduled for Saturday at Amahoro national stadium in Remera.
The one-day annual track and field event has attracted a total of 13 local athletics clubs that will be vying in individual and team categories for both men and women.
The athletics disciplines include; 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1,500m, 3,000m, 5,000m, and 10,000m as well as Javelin plus Triple and Long jump.
The 13 clubs that have been confirmed to compete are; APR, Vision Jeunesse Nouvelle, Nyaruguru, Rwamagana, Kavumu, MCAC, Nyamasheke, Rutsiro, Kamonyi, IPRC, Huye AC, and UR Huye.
According to the local athletics federation, the competition is aimed at preparing athletes that will represent Rwanda in international competitions.
