RENOWNED GOSPEL SINGER Serge Iyamuremye has been nominated for one of United Kingdom’s most prestigious gospel music awards, Gospel Touch Music Awards (GTM) under the category of ‘Best African Artiste’ 2021.
He is the only Rwandan gospel musician nominated this year for the awards whose ceremony will take place on December 6. He is nominated in the same category with eight other gospel musicians around the world.
"Getting a nomination at the GTM is overwhelming and being nominated with other big gospel names in the world is huge. It is a big honour to be recognised by such an international music competition even though I don’t have any song in English,” he said.
"I have realised that I have many fans in different countries around the world and this nomination is an encouragement to make some English songs to help them understand my songs. It is my first time being nominated at the Gospel Touch Music Awards and I hope my fans get to vote for me by going to the organiser’s website,” he added.
Voters will be able to vote online using the organizer’s website www.gtmusicawards.com.
The awarding categories are 13 including ‘Contemporary Artiste’, ‘The Next Big Thing’ and ‘Rap Artiste Nominee’ among others.
Some of the big names around the world that have won in this competition over the years include, Tori Kelly, Michelle Williams’ ‘Say Yes’, Charlie Wilson, Stormzy among others.
The renowned gospel musician also released his latest song last week dubbed ‘lion’ which is being welcomed well by the gospel music lovers.
He is known for other songs like ‘Ishimwe,’ ‘Biramvura,’ ‘Yesu Araje’ and ‘Uwiteka,’ among others.
He has previously won other accolades including, Xtreem Music Awards in 2014 and the Groove Music Awards in 2018.
