Jane Nakaayi, an educator, says although career assessment is mostly applied to those in school or soon-to-be graduates, even people already employed at some point might need it, especially when changing jobs or fields.
The goal of a career assessment, she says, is to evaluate the qualities and talents of an individual, which might include one’s strengths and weaknesses.
When one identifies this, Nakaayi says the next step is to find out what needs to be improved, skills to be used, as well as interests.
"A career assessment simply aims at helping one learn more about themselves so that they can discover which jobs rhyme with their goals,” she says.
This, Nakaayi explains, is important because when you find out what you are interested in before entering the job market, you will be more passionate about it.

A career test is also believed to help one decide what they can do about their current situation, especially if they are not satisfied with what they are doing at the moment.
