President Kagame and First Lady Jeannette Kagame, the Chairperson of Unity Club, attended Unity Club’s 25th Anniversary celebration held on Saturday, October 16, 2021.
The event which also marked the end of the 14th annual Forum which was held under the theme "Ndi Umunyarwanda: The foundation of our national identity".
Created in February 1996, Unity Club Intwararumuri is an organization that brings together current and former Rwandan leaders and their spouses to network and collaborate to address community issues and participate in Rwanda’s development.
Over the last 25 years, Unity Club has implemented a variety of projects and initiatives aimed at building unity amongst Rwandans, caring for orphans and the widowed, especially, the elderly widows who lost their families during the Genocide against Tutsi, named Intwaza.
During this event, the organization awarded seven "Abarinzi b’Igihango” (Guardians of the Covenant) who have played and continue to play leading roles in the unity and reconciliation of Rwandans.
