Semi-final second leg

Etoile de l’Est 1-1 Amagaju FC ( 2-2 aggregate: Etoile de l’Est win on 6-5 penalties)

Gicumbi 2-1 Heroes FC (3-1 on aggregate)

Etoile de l’Est and Gicumbi FC were promoted to the top flight league after they eliminated Amagaju FC and Heroes FC respectively in the semi-finals to secure tickets to the final of the second division league.

Gicumbi on Tuesday, October 12, progressed to the final of the second division league after beating Heroes FC 2-1 (3-1 on aggregate) at Gicumbi stadium to return to the top flight league after just one season.

Etoile de l’Est, on the other side, eliminated Amagaju 6-5 on penalties after both sides were again tied to a 1-1 draw at Ngoma Stadium to go level 2-2 on aggregate.

The Eastern Province-based side’s promotion put an end to the club’s 24-year wait for a ticket to the top flight league.

Gicumbi and Etoile de l’Est will now face off on Friday, October 15, in a final that will decide the 2020/2021 second division league champions.
