Police reclaim beach handball tourney title

Champions Police handball club retained the beach handball title for the second time in a row in the men’s category, over the weekend at the shores of Lake Kivu in Rubavu District.

Police on the tournament after defeating University of Rwanda 2-0. The champions also won the competition in 2015, 2017, and 2019.

Meanwhile, the Rwanda Handball Federation plans to organize beach handball competitions every year, according to the federation Secretary General, Joel Niyokwizera.

"We have seen a number of talented players in this year’s tournament and have agreed to keep organizing more beach handball tourneys to develop the sport in the country,” said Niyokwizera.

The two-day tournament attracted a total of 25 teams across the country competing in senior, junior, cadet, and veteran categories, in both genders.
