Amavubi’s losing streak continues

Sunday Uganda 1-0 Rwanda Kenya 0-1 Mali

The national football team’s losing streak continued on Sunday after losing to 1-0 to the Uganda Cranes at Kitende Stadium in the FIFA World Cup, Qatar 2022 qualifiers.

The lone goal came from Fahad Bayo Aziz after Amavubi failed to clear from the corner.

Uganda Cranes defeated Amavubi in the first leg 1-0 on Thursday at Kigali stadium.

Rwanda’s last win came back in a warm up game against Burkina Faso in Kigali when the Amavubi won two matches at Amahoro Stadium.

Rafael York, Kevin Muhire and APR midfielder Djabel Manishimwe each had an opportunity to equalize but failed to hit the back of the net.

Rwanda will play against Mali next in Kigali before visiting Kenya.

Rwanda are in Group E alongside regional neighbours Uganda, Kenya, and Mali.

After four rounds, Mali leads the group with ten points, followed by Uganda with eight points, Kenya is third with two points as well, while Rwanda is fourth with one point.

Only the group’s top team is guaranteed a spot into the final phase of the qualifiers.
