APR  3-0  Etoile de L’est

After registering his first win as APR head coach, Erik Paske expressed confidence about his team’s chances of winning a double this season.

The Dutchman lost on his debut 2-0 away to Egyptian side Haras El Hodoud two weeks ago in the Caf Confederations Cup first round return leg but made light work of Etoile de L’est on Thursday.

The military side beat the second division outfit 3-0 in their Amahoro Cup preliminary round first leg fixture played in Kibungo, Eastern Province.

Kenyan international midfielder Moses Odhiambo notched a brace and Mbuyu Twite added the third.

Odhiambo was returning to the first team for the first time after spending most of his life under former coach Rene Feller on the sidelines.

After registering his first win since replacing his compatriot and mentor, Paske said, "We won again Etoile de L’est today (Thursday) and we have three more matches in a space of ten days but I am confident we will battle on.”

"With my first win out of the way, the focus is to keep winning, the players understand the current state of things and I think we’ll play the remaining part of the season without pressure,” Paske said, adding that he is prepared to win something in his first season as head coach.

As Feller’s assistant, Paske won the Amahoro Cup last season but could only finish second in the league to Atraco.

Paske takes his team to the Northern Province for the league tie against Marines tomorrow afternoon at Umuganda stadium.
But he will do without his two main strikers Labama Bokota and Ndjoli Bokungu. The DR Congo born duo also missed the Egypt trip as well as Thursday’s win over Etoile de L’est.

Bokungu is yet to return from visiting his family back in his native DR Congo while Bokota is still fighting to regain full fitness after recovering an ankle injury.
