A moment of silence will be observed in honor of the victims if the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi before kick off of the national football league matches that resume today.

The national footballers’ body, Ferwafa has ordered a minute’s silence at this weekend’s local clubs matches in honor of the victims the 100 days carnage.

The local football fraternity lost many players, administrators and fans during the Genocide against the Tutsi that claimed over a million lives 15 years ago.

The federation Chief Executive Officer Jules Kalisa said, "We have to remember the Rwandans who died during the 1994 genocide, therefore, all clubs have been ordered to observe a minute of silence before their weekend matches.”

League action resumes on Sunday with national football league and the second division league resuming after being put on hold due to the national mourning week for the victims of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.

Record nine-time league winners, APR play away to Marines at Umuganda stadium in the Northern Province while league leaders Atraco are away to Amagaju in Nyamagabe, Southern Province.

Third placed Rayon Sport have a tricky fixture against Electrogaz at Nyamirambo stadium. Elsewhere, AS Kigali hosts cash-stripped Mukura at Mumena whereas Police entertain relegation threatened La Jeunesse at Kicukiro artificial turf.

Struggling SC Kiyovu travel to Gatwaro to take on Kibuye in another crucial tie for the old giants.

Defending champions, Atraco lead the league standings with 37 points, one point ahead of the APR while La Jeunesse is placed bottom of the standings with 11 points in 16 matches played.
