SANDRA NADEGE, 18, has released "Light In The Dark”, a short memoir that explores her journey to self-care, honesty, and breaking through her darkest feelings.
The book, published by Ubuntu Publishers, demonstrates her life from the time she was 9 and couldn't think that her emotions were strong enough to be relieved.
Moreso, according to her, it expresses the times when she couldn’t embrace her differences, and encompasses her memories when she had not yet realised how bright she could shine.
Nadege testified that admitting one’s feelings is the only way to effectively control them. She shared that while writing her book, she had to brutally be honest with herself and the reality of things in general.

"Writing this book was a way of letting out the experience and giving a testimony of the feelings I had bottled up for years. I started working on it in 2019 when I was in the final year of high school,” she said.
"It took me two months to finish the first draft, but the whole process towards publication took around two years.”
Through reading her book, Sandra expects people to learn about letting go of negative emotions they might have, especially about themselves.
"I wish people can break through the challenges they might be facing and find courage to pursue what they like,” she said.
She revealed that the process of writing the book wasn’t easy because sometimes, her feelings would compel her not to share some details, mulling over what might happen if people could get to learn about some critical incidents in her lives.
According to her, the publication process was hard but luckily, her manuscript didn’t get rejected though the editors had to work on it superbly to deliver it in a better shape.
Nadege believes that people will relate to her book as well as derive several moral lessons, adding that it is going to become her paradigm shift to writing and releasing more.
In 2020, she released a poetry collection titled "First Creation” which can be found on Amazon.
Apart from being an author, she is also a student at Kepler University pursuing communication.
People can get her book, ‘Light In The Dark’, at Arise Bookshop, Caritas, and Ikirezi bookshop, or visit Ubuntu Publishers’ social media accounts to place their orders as well as request for delivery.
