The Patriots came out on top with a less expected emphatic 73-59 victory against APR, a team that had quite strengthened itself in preparation of the Basketball Africa League (BAL).
During the match, American point guard William Perry scored 24 points for the Patriots while Rwandan forwards Dieudonné Ndizeye and Steven Hagumintwari also starred with 24 and 18 points respectively.
The two teams are now meeting again, but with a number of new changes, specifically on APR’s side. The army team has introduced new players including Aliou Diarra, 22, a Malian center who joined from Moroccan giants FUS Rabat.
