Alice Lambert Rutayisire, also known as Rluta, is an upcoming artiste doing mostly Afrobeat music.

Rluta said in an interview with The New Times, that she discovered her singing talent at the age of 8 when she joined Sunday school at her church.

She participated in a digital music challenge competition dubbed ‘danieltrustchallenge’ in June last year and came second. She was also part of the panel of judges for this year’s edition of the Daniel Trust Challenge.

"In January this year, I started my career professionally with a feature in a song dubbed Tunavibe by Arnaud Kennymusic and Yivan. I have two singles plus the Tunavibe feature and a new single coming soon after my recent song dubbed Nobody Else. I compose all my songs mostly because I like to have a unique touch with my own style. I like playing with languages in my songs so I mix English, Kinyarwanda and Swahili, it makes my songs sound beautiful”, Rluta said.

Rluta says that her motivation in music is to make her music speak to people and make them dance. She makes sure to write good music that listeners can not get tired of listening to, which is why she spends so much time on her songs before releasing them.

Challenges

"We have a very few women doing music, there are a few role models but we want more to inspire the young generation because men are dominant in our music industry.

It is tough for new artistes to get promos on radio and TV, although it is also up to a new artiste to work hard so they can be recognized so it motivates me to work harder,” the singer said.

Future plans

"I want to make myself a brand and make more music to inspire more people especially girls because they are a few of us doing music and I believe there are many talented girls out there. Most of all, I want to do good music that people cannot get tired listening to, it is all that I ever wanted. I want to work with more people, both from Rwanda and outside,” she added.
