FWAD FLAVOUR is an album that holds deep emotional messages, selective honesty and struggle that Fuad the Great went through in the year of 2020, which saw him seek therapy in music.

Featuring the best upcoming artistes like Kenny k Shot, Maestroboomin and Logan Joe, the album has won the respect and admiration of many Rap, Trap and Drill music lovers, making it a trend on music platforms.

The project was put together by the artiste, real name, Fuad Ishimwe, last year while he was in jail.

Born and raised in Kigali Remera, Fuad is a 24-year-old musician, who grew up with an interest in soccer and making music. 

After completing high school, he joined a renowned music movement and gang named ‘Loud Sound Music,’ which gave life to big tracks like ‘Rwanda Rw’ejo’ and ‘Mukarukundo’.

The driller’s movement [Loud Sound music], shaped Fuad’s music and helped him when he was in the hardest times, which is why he fell in love with the art of music according to Fuad.

In an interview with The New Times, the rising artiste traced his journey in music and how his debut album, which was released on September 18, this year, came to life.

For Fuad, the main inspiration behind his album is depression that he dealt with in 2020 which was caused by many factors, including his parents’ divorce, jail life and the need to deliver a different style of music.

"2020 was a hard year for me and my family. My parents separated, I got locked up, but music kept me moving in the darkest days. After I released it in August, I went to the studio and told Pro Zed that I wanted to make a song that described my life” he said.

"From that song, I got a broad idea of making music that can be therapy to many, the same way it kept me going in my worst days. I then started working on it and gave it enough time which is why it took almost a year before being released” he added.

Fuad said that he did the script for the first four tracks, and the rest were flex songs which each artiste wrote for themselves.

‘Fwad Flavour’ is an album with 14 tracks and features more than 15 musicians including Yannick Myk, Bushali, Og2tone, Nikita Heaven, Arnaud gray, 99 Gang, Ben Tulip, Kellz and Paintedblvck.

Some of the most loved tracks are ‘Izanjye’ and ‘Give Up’.
