UBUMWE women Basketball club has signed a three year deal with the Rwanda Energy Group (REG).

The agreement was signed on Tuesday, September 14.

In the contract, the team will now be called REG women Basketball club.

The cooperation is expected to boost the level of the team and meet their target as well according to Albert Baudouin Twizeyimana, the president of Ubumwe BBC.

He said that the team is owned by a Non-Governmental Organization called Ubumwe Sport Initiative and was founded ten years ago with an aim of promoting women basketball.

However, he said that due to various issues including financial constraints, it was very hard for them to fulfil all requirements required by the senior team.

He added that the NGO has in the past struggled to pay coaches and players and assured the public that with this support the team is ready to win major silverware in the future.
