Kigali, Rwanda — In collaboration with the Rwanda Coding Academy (RCA), Irembo is investing in the next generation of software engineers in an ongoing internship programme. This initiative highlights Irembo’s dedication to cultivating local talent and propelling Rwanda to the forefront of digital innovation in Rwanda’s digital transformation journey.
The March 2024 internship cohort is Irembo’s largest to date, welcoming 28 interns to our software engineering teams. While we have recruited more than half of them (16) from the Rwanda Coding Academy, we are also thrilled to have onboarded 14 young software engineers from diverse backgrounds, enriching the programme with various skills and experiences.
During this cohort, the interns made significant strides to build and test 100+ services on top of the IremboGov technology stack in a few weeks. Their efforts have substantially accelerated the delivery cadence of new services and further positioned IremboGov as the one-stop portal for government services.
They also contribute to advancing our AI initiatives through successful experimentations around chatbots to answer questions about IremboGov services, assistants to improve developer productivity, and natural language processing to serve analytics. Additionally, interns are cultivating valuable teamwork and problem-solving skills in a dynamic environment under the mentorship of Irembo’s seasoned engineers.
The contributions of these talented students and professionals reflect the high-quality education and training provided by RCA and the diverse expertise brought in through our professional internship programme. Their work drives significant progress in Irembo’s projects, demonstrating the powerful synergy between academic learning, professional growth, and real-world application.
