Rwanda will send players to this year’s Confederation of African Tennis (CAT) 14 and Under Circuit set for May 5-9 in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
The Rwanda Tennis Federation Technical director, Thierry Ntwali confirmed to Times Sport yesterday that they plan to send a team to the event.
"We are sending players for the event. We did it even last year, but the team will be named before the end of this month,” Ntwali said.
According to Tanzanian Tennis Association (TTA), about eight teams of four players each from African countries are expected to compete in the tournament.
Players will be competing in singles and doubles to qualify for the Major Event; the African Masters 2009 scheduled for mid November, but also compete for African ranking under the age category.
Meanwhile, Rwanda’s Gisele Umumararungu and Hamis Gatete are taking part in the Africa Junior Championship in Morocco which started mid last week in Casablanca.
