RUHANGO — Religious leaders in Ruhango district have taken a firm stand to fight genocide ideology and encourage Rwandans to build a new nation.

A group of pastors made the statement at a meeting which formed part  of the Genocide commemoration  week held on March 13 at the district Genocide memorial site.

"We have to always remember this tragedy because it is part of our history. We have to  strive to make a better community of children of God through working for peace, unity and development,” a Muslim religious leader said.

The leaders also stressed the need to eradicate the perpetration of the genocide ideology in all communities.

"Rwandans are one single nation and people should stand against genocide ideology-which caused divisions and later on deaths of millions. Today we take a stand and say never again to satanic forces. We are ready to eliminate all divisive forces,” pastor Steven Muligo stressed.

"There is hope in the resurrection and we shall be able to meet the victims in the after life. However, judgment shall be passed on everyone accordingly. This is the reason for each to work for the common good by eliminating satanic tendencies,” pastor Innocent Rugagi said. 

The event was attended by various local leaders, and residents- who paid tribute to the Genocide victims.
