AS Kigali skipper Haruna Niyonzima has said his side will be seeking  a crucial away victory when they face Olympique de Missiri of Comoros in the preliminary round of the 2021/22 CAF Confederation Cup on Friday.

The two sides square-off in their first-leg encounter at Stade Omnisports De Malouzini.

Rwandan side AS Kigali are competing in the continent’s second biggest club tournament for a third consecutive season since 2019 when they clinched the Peace Cup.

In an interview, Niyonzima said: "Olympique de Missiri are a team you can’t undermine. They are in the competition because their excelled in their home league, so we need to it our 100% for a crucial away win.”

The team that will advance to the second round after their two-legged tie will meet DR Congo’s Motema Pembe.

Last season, AS Kigali were eliminated by CS Sfaxien of Tunisia in the tournament’s third round.
