Rwanda Biomedical Centre (RBC) has lifted the seven-day mandatory quarantine for passengers coming to Rwanda from India and Uganda as confirmed by an official source.

The tight measures had been put in place to curb the spread of Covid19 on June 15, where they spent those seven days in designated hotels at their own cost.

The newly issued Covid guidelines for passengers arriving or departing from Rwanda by RBC on September 3 is henceforth applicable to all.

Among which include; travelers arriving in Rwanda must have a negative Covid19 certificate of a SARS-CoV 2 Real Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) performed within 72 hours prior to departure.

They will also be tested for Covid19 upon arrival at the airport with a payment of $60 ($50for covid-19 test and $10 for specific logistics to the airport) and wait 24 hours for the results in designated transit hotels, read the statement.

Meanwhile, the CEO of RwandAir Yvonne Makolo speaking to The New Times said the flights to and from Entebbe International Airport are resuming next week with dates yet to be confirmed.

The national carrier flights to and from Uganda had been suspended due to a surge in Covid cases in Uganda on June 10.

RwandAir has had daily direct flights on Entebbe-Nairobi route since the last six years, during which the covid19 measures in June this year, became an impediment to passengers wishing to use this route and that one from Kigali to Entebbe as well.
