The primary leaving examinations are scheduled to start July 18 and end July 20, while Secondary and TVET national examinations will start July 26 and end August 5.

Meanwhile, some concerns were raised by the public over the national examinations result publications and the teachers’ recruitment process that needs to be done and teachers placed in different schools before the school opening.

Bernard Bahati, Director General of National Examination and School Inspection Authority (NESA) said that they are still in the marking process, which will be followed by grading and results publications and allocating the students to different.

"We want to assure everyone that the results will be ready in time for the students to start with others on the designated date, though we do not have an exact date of when the results will be published but it is very soon, and we will communicate,” he said.

Speaking to The New Times Leon Mugenzi, Head of Department of teacher management and development at Rwanda Basic Education (REB) said that they will aim at making sure that all the teachers will be at their respective schools in time with the school opening.

"We are planning on recruiting 11,942 pre-primary, primary and secondary school teachers, head teachers and school administration staff, the whole process is not easy but we are currently working on it," he said.

"Currently we are identifying gaps from different districts, we are trying to find a way to use an e-recruitment process where candidates will sit the exams we are preparing online, and the ones who pass will be placed to their respective schools,” he added.
