Saturday

Semi-finals Cape Verde Vs Tunisia 2pm  Senegal Vs Ivory Coast 5pm

Defending champions Tunisia will square off with Cape Verde in the semi-finals of Afrobasket 2021 on Saturday evening (2pm) at the Kigali Arena.

The Tunisians are title favourites, thanks to the strength the team has showcased so far, as it has not lost any match in the competition.

On the other hand, Cape Verde has proved to be a robust team, despite the fact that they do not have a lot of experience in the continental tournament.

To the surprise of many, the team topped group A that had Angola, Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo to directly qualify for the quarter finals, where they went on to defeat Uganda to proceed to the semis.

In the other semifinal game on Saturday, Senegal will lock horns with Cote d'Ivoire at 5pm.

The Senegalese made it to the semis after beating continental rivals Angola 79-74 in a highly-contested game.

It was Senegal's third straight Afrobasket win against Angola, having beaten the eleven-time African champions in the Group phase of the 2015 edition of the tournament before eliminating Angola in the quarter-finals of the AfroBasket 2017 in Tunisia.

On the other hand, the 'Elephants' of Cote d'Ivoire, made a strong statement in the quarterfinals when they emphatically beat Guinea 98-50 to return to make it to the semifinals.
