From Scratch

The Last of Us

The 2023 drama features Pedro Pascal as Joel Miller, a hardened survivor deeply scarred by his past. Joel is tasked with smuggling Ellie, a 14-year-old girl played by Bella Ramsey, out of a quarantine zone and across the United States.

Unlike in the game, Joel is portrayed as physically vulnerable, struggling with hearing loss and joint pain. Ellie is a defiant and angry teenager who hides a deep need for connection and belonging. Immune to the Cordyceps infection, she might hold the key to developing a vaccine.

The Bear

This comedy-drama series stars Jeremy Allen White and currently has three seasons. It follows Carmen "Carmy" Berzatto, a young, talented chef who inherits his family's Italian beef sandwich shop in Chicago after the suicide of his older brother Michael.

Leaving behind his Michelin-starred restaurant career, Carmy returns to manage the struggling shop. He must confront his brother's unresolved debts, a ruined kitchen, and a difficult staff, all while dealing with his own personal pain and family trauma.

Abbott Elementary

The show with 3 seasons is about Willard R. Abbott Elementary School, a mostly Black public school in Philadelphia, struggling with poor conditions and mismanagement.

It was made in a way that a documentary crew is filming the teachers working there. Many teachers quit after two years due to the tough environment.

Optimistic second-grade teacher Janine Teagues portrayed by Quinta Brunson is determined to support her students despite the challenges. She works with various staff members and, despite the odds piled up against them, they are determined to help their students succeed in life.

Goosebumps

The 2023 series stars Zack Morris as Isaiah and Isa Briones as Margot. It follows a group of five high school students as they embark on a dark and mysterious journey to investigate the tragic death of a teenager named Harold Biddle from 30 years earlier.

Along the way, they uncover disturbing secrets about their parents' pasts.

Dexter

With 8 seasons, "Dexter," starring Michael C. Hall, is about a man who was orphaned at the age of three after witnessing his mother's murder. Adopted by a Miami police officer, Dexter is trained to channel his violent impulses into vigilante justice, targeting only the worst criminals who evade the law.

He works as a forensic analyst specialising in blood analysis while secretly covering up his crimes with "kill rooms" and disposing of bodies in the Gulf Stream. The series is about how Dexter's struggles to balance his dark, homicidal nature with his attempt to lead a normal, socially responsible life.

Moving

‘Moving’ is a 2023 South Korean action drama about students who attend the same high school. They look like ordinary students, but they have special abilities that they inherited from their parents. One has the ability to fly. The other has excellent athletic abilities and she is able to rapidly recover from injuries, like being shot or stabbed.

The last one has speed.

These three students try to hide their special abilities from other people, while their parents struggle to protect them from being used by other people.
