Celebrities are mostly a great source for entertainment. This is especially true for musicians, actors and actresses, among others. But there is usually more to what they offer; inspiration. Famous people carry with them traits and accomplishments that some look up to. That’s why for some, celebrities are adored role models who serve as a great source of inspiration.
Weekender’s Donah Mbabazi had a chat with a cross section of people, who shared their favourite celebrity and why they are inspired by them.

My celebrity idol is American artiste Chris Brown. I know he’s made some mistakes but he is human and subject to all of that. There is another side of him that I like; he is humble and disciplined enough to maintain his level of work. He excels at what he does by maintaining the level of competitiveness and fitness in his field. The musician is also multipurpose and multi-talented. By this I mean; he is a singer and a songwriter, a producer, dancer and choreographer. He does painting and sports, and he is a parent too! There is a lot that goes into being all of that, which calls for integrity and excellent decision making. Chris Brown enjoys his work and is pleased to share it with the world, I am sure he is a blessing to many.

My celebrity idol is Khaby Lame, a 21-year-old-digital creator who has had an impressive rise on TikTok. He is a TikTok influencer who is now the second most followed platform user after Charli D’Amelio.
The reason why I consider him as my idol is because he has created a platform where he doesn’t talk in any of his videos, so people literally have no way of cancelling him for a personal bias he might have and I find that absolutely genius.

I will go with Shaddy Boo (real name, Shadia Mbabazi). She’s resilient and is also a hardworking woman. Despite everything said about her, she keeps going and the one thing that makes me admire her most is that, she had to make her own life by defying the odds all by herself. So, she is someone I learn from.

It’s always Rihanna. The American singer inspires me because I find her a courageous woman. She is also very hardworking and very talented.

My celebrity idol is Bruce Melodie. I admire that guy for how hardworking he is. Everything he does, he makes sure that it’s of good quality. Sometimes when a celebrity becomes famous, they work less, but for him it’s the opposite. He has maintained his drive, actually I think he is working harder now than when he was still an upcoming artiste. He makes sure he has a song out and ensures it is a hit. My other celebrity is Dr Myles Munroe; he was a Bahamian evangelist, an author, and coach who wrote many books in different fields on purpose and leadership. His passion was to help people know their purpose in life, we share this passion for I aim at helping the youth discover their purpose and how they can make the world a better place. Another one is American author, John C Maxwell, he is an author and mainly in leadership.
