A total of 47 young cyclists departed BK Arena on Thursday, August 1, heading to Rwamagana, embarking on a three-day junior cycling competition, dubbed Rwanda Junior Tour, aimed at scouting young talents and prepare them into future champions in cycling.

Organised by Rwanda Cycling Federation (Ferwacy), the race, running through Saturday, August 3, attracted young riders aged between 17 and 19 years.

Cyclists departed BK Arena heading to Rwamagana, during on a three-day junior cycling competition

The opening stage saw riders compete from BK Arena to Rwamagana where they will cover a distance of Km 81.

The second stage will take place on Friday, August 2 where, from 10:00 am, riders will compete in the Individual Time Trial (ITT) in Rwamagana town with a distance of 4.6 km, in the afternoon of the same day (4pm), they will compete in the Criterium race, covering 18 laps of 1.9 km each.

During the third and decisive stage, scheduled on Saturday, August 3, riders will depart Rwamagana at 9:30 am and return to Kigali towards the finish line at BK Arena. The stage covers a distance of 79.5km.

At the end of the race, Ferwacy will award Yellow Jersey, Best Climber, Best Sprinter and stage winners.

Meanwhile, women from U23, junior and cadets categories will specifically compete in the Criterium on Friday.
