Musicians Jules Sentore and Davis D, are set to perform at the 2021 African Basketball Championship (Afrobasket) which tipped off on Tuesday, August 24th.
Their performances will be an intermission between halves of the game, which will start at 6 PM between the Rwandan and DR Congo teams.
Each day of the competition is set to have an artist(s) who will do a mini-concert for the fans, although their identities are yet to be revealed to the public, they will be revealed as the tournament unveils.
Jules Sentore told The New Times that he was happy to get back on stage, performing for a live audience in person. "Please adhere to measures and get vaccinated as soon as it is your turn so that we can go back to having more good times like this again” he called the public.
He also called for Rwandans’ support in terms of attending the games.
"What I can tell Rwandan is to keep supporting us, through buying tickets, and attending the game and our performances, all the while adhering to the measures of covid-19,” he said.
The New Times tried in vain to reach Davis D, who in his post on Instagram had shown a lot of excitement for his performance as well. In his post he said, "I can’t wait to meet my people again after a longtime, which song do you want me to perform at the Afrobasket? It’s gonna be madness! Go get your vaccines and let’s meet there...shine boy say so!”.
The performances will take place at Kigali Arena, where the games are being held.
Today, August 24, Rwanda will play against neighbors DR Congo in Group A, before facing Angola and Cape Verde on August 26 and 28, respectively.
