A youth association code-named 1000 Hills Promotion and Entertainment (HPE) plans to involve six schools in fighting the Genocide ideology.

According to HPE President, Sheila Wibabara, a series of competitions with a message against Genocide are slated for August this year. She explained that few schools are involved due to finances but added that the results are encouraging so far.

"Three months ago, it was impossible to imagine the outcome of the campaign. Now we are inspired to financially support all sorts of talent like handicraft, games and sports,” she said Saturday at the official launch of HPE which was held at a local Hotel in Kigali.

This follows music, dance and drama competitions between Anti-AIDS clubs of four secondary schools organised last month by another group of youths. The group comprised fresh university graduates and some students still at university.

The four schools which were represented include Lycee de Kigali, APRED Ndera, St. Patrick Kicukiro, APE Rugunga.

Jean Damascene Niyitanga who spoke on behalf of Kicukiro Mayor Jules Ndamage commended the development and called upon the young generation to work together.

"If you support each other, you will benefit more.” He encouraged the youth to always feel free to contact authorities for any assistance.

HPE is morally and financially supported by the Ministry of Culture and Sports, Kicukiro District and the National Commission for the fight Against Aids (CNLS).
