Anita Kate Umuratwa continues to show her pride in representing Rwanda at the ongoing Miss Supranational global taking place in Malopolska, Poland as her ‘Visit Rwanda’ themed video, in which many of her fellow contestants were involved, continues to take social media by storm.
The 20-year-old is one of 58 contestants vying for a crown at this year’s edition of Miss Supranational Global.
Umuratwa is aware that her previous Rwandan beauty queens had been shy of winning the Miss Supranational global and is doing her best to play her cards well to end the jinx.
The beauty queen, now doing Information Management at the Adventist University of Central Africa (AUCA), is seen in the video saying, "Hey everyone, I am here having lunch with my sisters and I have something to say to the world” before her colleagues joined the video each saying ‘Visit Rwanda’.
The video is now trending and people have since given her a vote of confidence and praising her successful efforts to engage fellow beauty queens to join her cause to encourage the world to visit Rwanda.
Twitter users like Kim Kamasa and Gate Nyilingabo Ruhumuriza showed some love for the character that Umuratwa showed in the video.
"How awesome is this… Visit Rwanda,” Kamasa commented on the video via his Twitter account.
She qualified for the global contest after she was crowned Miss Supranational Rwanda 2020 in a colorful but virtual grand finale event held at Century Park Hotel, Nyarutarama in March. She replaced Shanita Umunyana who won the crown in 2019.
As she pushes to become the first Rwandan beauty queen to win the global crown, Umuratwa needs support from Rwandans and beyond through online voting which is ongoing until the final day of the competition.
Voting for her requires downloading the Miss Supranational application via Google Play for Android mobile phones or App Store for iPhone users. The more she gets voted, the more chances of featuring in the top 12 contestants heading for the finale.
The winner of this year’s beauty contest will be announced during the grand finale slated for August 21, to replace Thailand’s Anntonia Porsild who won it in 2019. The 2020 edition was canceled due to the covid-19 pandemic.
