A number of local musicians, mostly rising artists, are taking advantage of the pandemic by dropping albums and Extended Plays (EP) to grow their fan base.

The week which is coming to an end had been an occasion for artistes Nikita Heaven and Kivumbi King to release albums while Bushali released an Extended Play.

Nikita Heaven’s album ‘Mine’

The 21-year-old has been working on her debut album ‘Mine’ for about a year-and-a-half, a few months after she released her album titled 3 AM.

The nine-track album comprises songs, both singles and collaborations, reflecting on romance, heart break, letting go and mood.

Bushali’s EP ‘Kivuruga’

After ‘Ku Gasima’, ‘Nyiramubande’ and ‘!B!HE B!7’, trap musician Jean Paul Hagenimana, best known as Bushali, has added his latest five-song EP ‘Kivuruga’, to his name.

The EP, which is a joint project with Stallion, a Germany-based Ghanaian producer, is a portrait of Bushali as a vulnerable young adult in his soul-searching journey and is a quick follow up to his third album ‘Ibihe Bi7’ (seven seasons) released in 2020 according to a press release.

Besides the producer, the EP also features Bushali’s fellow Rwanda artiste Neriwest and Southern African female Hip Hop act Awa Khiwe.

Kivumbi’s Album ‘DID’

The fast-rising artist released his debut album dubbed ‘DID’, which features new generation music acts like Ish Kevin, Bushali, Amalon and Mike Kayihura, with whom, he said, they can change the face of Rwandan music.

The nine-song album, which is an acronym of Dissociative Identity Disorder, reflects mostly on romance, self-esteem, and spirit to bring change in the game [music].

The album has gained positive feedback from people who are showing some love for the artist’s achievement.

 "So far I have already started to get so much positive feedback from people and they are expressing their love towards my album,” he said.
