The Rwandan Embassy in Indonesia on July 26 held a Liberation Day ceremony in Jakarta, during which participants paid great tribute to the country’s liberators for their immense sacrifice and celebrated the progress the country has made to better the lives of its people.
Several high-profile dignitaries from Indonesia joined in the celebration, which marked the 30th anniversary since the Rwanda Patriotic Front led by President Paul Kagame stopped the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi and liberated Rwanda on the July 4, 1994.
Among the dignitaries present at the celebration included Tirta Nugraha Mursitama, the Deputy Minister of Investment Coordination in the Ministry of Investment of Indonesia, who was the guest of honor, members of the diplomatic corps, captains of industry, the media, and the Rwanda community in Indonesia.
The Ambassador of Rwanda in Indonesia, Sheikh Abdul Karim Harelimana paid a glowing tribute to the enormous impact the liberation has had on Rwandans and how far Rwanda has come as a nation.
Mursitama congratulated the Rwandan government and people for the progress made, and recalled the meeting between Rwandan and Indonesian Foreign Affairs Minsters last month during the official opening ceremony of the Rwandan Embassy in Indonesia.
In the investment field, he announced that their ministry is ready to collaborate with the Rwandan government to establish bilateral investment cooperation avenues.
Officially opened in June, Rwanda's Embassy in Indonesia is committed to deepening relations between Rwanda and Indonesia.
The two countries have since established partnership and cooperation in several areas including trade and investment, tourism, and education.
