2018 RFI PRIX DECOUVERTE WINNER, Buravan is back with a new style from his recent song ‘Ye Ayee’, which was released last week, July 7. The artiste tried to fuse traditional and modern music to create his own sound.
The song went on to hit local radio and TV stations’ airwaves because of its uniqueness.
Buravan, in an interview with The New Times, said that he wanted to create something that everyone could hear and credit it to Rwandan music, the same way other African countries have built their own genre.
"The inspiration came from looking at other countries having their own different and unique sound, and I thought it would be a significant thing for our Rwandan music industry also” he said.
The ‘Oya’ hit maker is set to publish his second album by the end of October. The unreleased album has four songs in a similar style.
"My forthcoming album has up to four songs done in this line of the style” said Buravan.
"We would like to release it by the end of October if it all goes well. I say that in case nothing changes because covid-19 might interrupt our plans but we pray it doesn't” he said.
He further explained where the inspiration of making ‘Ye Ayee’ came from.
"The message is that one should do what is in line with his or her goals and vision, without giving attention to whatever bad vibes and negativity, that would want to distract him/her,” he told The New Times.
He calls on other artistes to jump on this new style that he has pioneered for the purpose of making Rwandan music rise internationally.
"I think this is what our music needs, to be recognised on the global scene, which, if other artistes join, we shall make a huge impact for our industry, so yes I invite them to the movement” said Buravan.
Buravan professionally plunged into the music industry in 2015. He is ranked among the best in making Afro-pop, R&B and soul music in and outside of the country.
Some of his top tracks include ‘Just a Dance’ and ‘Oya’.
