Picnics are a great way of having fun outdoors. They are normally set around scenic places such as a park or lakeside, where people share a meal outdoors. Spending such quality time with those you love can be one of the best ways to create memories and have a good time. Although with the pandemic, this is not ideal, should the world return to some level of normalcy, a picnic is a great way to spend time with loved ones.
Here is how to organise a simple but lovely picnic;
Choose the right timing
Picnicking requires that you choose the timing wisely. It is best to be done during the dry season with less possibility for it to rain. Organising it during this time also gives people a chance to enjoy the outdoors without worrying about weather changes that might ruin the getaway.
The spot
When at home, a picnic can be set up on a lawn or the garden. If it’s a getaway event, then a park or a place by the lakeside can be the perfect choice of location. What matters is the view that your guest(s) will get to enjoy. Also, consider that your choice of location has a shade to guarantee that everyone is comfortable and not struggling not to get sunburnt.
Work on the menu
Picnics are a great time to have fun and eat. When choosing what to bring along, think of who will be there and try to choose meals that are suitable to their preferences. It’s best to ask those who will be joining you to help you choose some of their favourite food items that they would like to have. Also, you can choose to go by the basics and pack yourselves some snacks and of course, fruits- these are a staple when it comes to picnics.
Plan for activities
Before you set off for your getaway, plan ahead for the activities you will be carrying out while there. You want to have a good time and enjoy with your friends or family, so you can choose to play games to complement your meal time. Games are always a good idea for a picnic. You can play hide and seek, football, volleyball among others.
Carry the essentials
When planning for a picnic, you will need items such as baskets, cloths or blankets for the ground where you will be sitting and the tables where you will place your meals. Some people also carry pillows to make their stay even more comfortable. Since there is meal sharing, there will obviously be need for utensils, napkins and towels, food warmers and coolers-depending on the meals, and also, garbage bags for the trash.
Care for safety
The outdoors are always a great place to have fun, unfortunately a lot is bound to happen. This means accidents are inevitable, hence, one has to be prepared. Carry with you a first aid kit in case anything happens and calls for immediate care.
Leave room for spontaneity
Planning does make things easier but with activities that are meant for fun, going overboard can ruin things for you. It is good to leave room for any sudden changes; these could be new ideas from your companions; when these come up, be accommodating enough and let everything and everyone flex with the moment. It is said that the fun of any picnic getaway is the spontaneity.
