KEVIN SEMANA, best known as Ish Kevin, was arrested on May 25, alongside others including DJ Briane, who was recently released. 

However, Ish Kevin and a few others continue to remain behind bars, after they tested positive for a drug test Rwanda Investigation Bureau has confirmed.

Speaking to The New Times, Thierry Murangira, the RIB spokesperson, said "after arresting them we progressed to do a drug test for each one of them at the Rwanda Forensic Laboratory. Some passed the test and were immediately released”.

He further explained why Ish Kevin and a few others are still detained.

"Testing positive for the drug test, means that one has cannabis in his body. The ones still arrested will appear in court with the positive results as evidence, which is why they are still in custody” Thierry says.

Ish Kevin was arrested together with five other individuals including Patrick Mugisha, Celine Munyanshoza, Benitha Umulisa, Olga Nziza and Briana Byukusenge. They were arrested for violating covid-19 restrictions and drug use.

Ish Kevin is a fast rising singer known for songs like Amakosi, King Kong, Ibitambo, among many others.
