Safi Niyibikora, commonly known as Safi Madiba, recently released a love ballad, ‘Remember Me’ that tells partners to think about the life they have together. It is among the songs on an album that is yet to be released.
The former Urban Boys member who is currently based in Canada is pursuing a career as a solo artiste.
Madiba tells The New Times that the message in the song is all about reminding couples what they have together. "The message in my new song is all about being in love with someone, but then they want to leave you for someone else and you remind them of the good times you had together.”
The audio was produced by renowned producer, Element. Madiba says that it was not easy to work with someone remotely as Element is in Rwanda and he in Canada, they had to exchange data of the song but with technology, they made it happen.
Madiba tells The New Times that ‘Remember Me’, which is being received well as it has about 60k views on his YouTube channel, is one of the songs which will be on his album "Back to Life” that will have 30 songs. So far, he has done 70 per cent of the album. This will be Madiba’s first album since he started his solo music career.
"I named my album ‘Back to Life’ because it has a special meaning as I feel like I have started music from scratch,” he explains.
In 2018, he started ‘Nukuri Music Label’ and recently he signed the first artiste under that label—Darcy Muhoza, a hip-hop and R&B artiste also based in Canada.
