The Gen-Z Comedy Show on Thursday, July 25, brought a night of laughter to a full house. Headlined by acclaimed Ugandan comedians Tr Mpamire and Dr Hillary Okello, the event featured a mix of seasoned talent and emerging Gen-Z stars.

The venue was filled, with the VIP section requiring additional seating to accommodate the crowd. The show kicked off at 7 pm with performances from Gen Z comedians who, among others, included Jonathan, Eric, Papa Gigi, Ambasaderi waba Konsomateri, Isaac, Dudu, and Clement, who set the tone for a night of laughter.

One of the night&039;s highlights was the ‘Meet me tonight’ segment featuring traditional singer Masamba Intore. The artiste treated fans to acapella renditions of his famous songs and took the opportunity to promote his upcoming 40th-anniversary concert.

Tr Mpamire, donning his signature suit, entertained the audience with his unique style, seamlessly switching between a classroom setting and an impersonation of Uganda’s president, Museveni.

Dr. Hillary Okello received a warm welcome from the eager crowd. His set included a clever joke about Deejay Pius’s performance mishap in Uganda and a spot-on observation about the differences between East African and American performers, complete with an impromptu Eminem rap.

Okello’s story about a chaotic high school chemistry exam involving a Rwandan classmate and a South Sudanese lab partner had the audience in stitches, proving that laughter truly knows no borders.

"Our test tubes were colourless while others had orange so we panicked at the last minute and my partner ended up urinating in the test tube and the teacher told us to smell our final results,” he joked.

As Mpamire returned to the stage for his second act, this time impersonating President Museveni, the audience rose to their feet in anticipation. His spot-on portrayal of the Ugandan leader had the crowd roaring with laughter and applauding enthusiastically.

Mpamire’s uncanny ability to mimic Museveni’s speech patterns showcased his comedic brilliance, entertaining the audience and leaving them calling for more.

As Mpamire prepared to exit the stage, still in character as President Museveni, he called upon the audience to rise. He instructed the crowd to applaud the President of Rwanda, congratulating him on his recent election victory and praising him as a visionary leader—and brought a cake on the stage.

The Gen Z comedy show once again demonstrated its ability to bring together diverse comedic talents, creating an unforgettable night of entertainment for comedy enthusiasts.
