The East African Muslim Students Federation (EAMSF) will hold a conference on genocide prevention in Kigali.

The three-day conference that is slated to open tomorrow will attract 20 representatives from each of the five Partner States will be held in Kanombe, Kicukiro District.

Rwanda’s Mufti, Sheik Saleh Habimana confirmed the development adding that participants will discuss human rights and tolerance.

"By training this generation on human rights, it will help in the prevention of the Genocide especially as we prepare for the 15th commemoration of the 1994 atrocities,” Habimana told The New Times by telephone.

He added that the youth from the various universities will have time to visit Gisozi Memorial Centre to witness the history that the country went through.

EAMSF brings together all Muslim Universities of the East African countries who meet every year to discuss the opportunities of enhancing peace in the region.

This will be one of the various activities that will take place in the country during the commemoration week that ends April 14, one of which is the on-going Symposium on Genocide.
