The Rwanda Defence Force Military Band is set to entertain music lovers on the second day of the Iwacu Muzika Festival 2021.
The show normally takes place on Saturday night but this time round it is scheduled for Sunday, the day when Rwandans will mark the 27th anniversary of Liberation Day.
Organisers say the virtual event will take place at Kigali Arena and, as usual, it will be broadcast live on Rwanda Television.
The band, known for such songs as Maji Maji, Intwari z'Urugamba, and Umugabo Nyawe, are set to for at least an hour, starting 10:30p.m.
Speaking to The New Times Friday, Col Ronald Rwivanga, Rwanda Defence Force spokesperson, confirmed that the band will play tunes of the Liberation Struggle.
"They will be playing tunes of the liberation struggle just as a reminder of that journey,” he said. "These are patriotic songs, some of which were used in the liberation struggle.”
RDF military band is the second to headline the annual festival after Platini (P), who performed last Saturday.
Also set to perform on Sunday are Intore Masamba and Mariya Yohana, both traditional artistes who also composed and sang popular Liberation songs.
Iwacu Muzika Festival, which seeks to promote the Rwandan music industry, is organised by East African Promoters, in partnership with the Ministry of Youth and Culture, Tembera u Rwanda, RBA, among others.
