On Wednesday, June 30, François Nsengiyumva was arrested by Rwanda Investigation Bureau (RIB) for allegedly sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl.
According to RIB, the singer, who is commonly known by his stage name Gisupusupu, is also suspected to have subjected the girl to child labour by employing her as a domestic worker.
RIB spokesperson Thierry Murangira told The New Times that Nsengiyumva committed the crimes on June 18, 2021 in Gatsibo District.
"When he found out that people might have known about those crimes on the very same child, he went into hiding and he was finally arrested in Kiramuruzi,” Murangira said.
He is being held at Kiramuruzi RIB Station as investigations into his alleged crimes continue.
