Cheikh Sarr, the head coach of Rwanda women’s national basketball team, has dropped six players from the squad preparing for the 2026 FIBA Women's World Cup pre-qualifying tournament.
Rwanda has for the past two weeks been training as the team looks to win the pre-qualifying round which will take place in Kigali from August 19-25.
And, with tournament drawing closer, Sarr has now decided to leave six players out of his squad. They include Faustine Mwizerwa (REG), Jane Dusabe (The Hoops), Laurence Imanizabayo (APR), Nelly Akaliza (Kepler), Shanice Uwase (USA) and Soiffa Wibabara (Canada).

Rwanda are in Group D, along with Great Britain, Argentina and Lebanon. The team, currently residing at Kigali Delight Hotel, is training twice a day at BK Arena.

Assouma Uwizeye, Bella Murekatete, Celine De Roy, Chantal Kiyobe, Charlotte Umugwaneza, Destiney Philoxy, Hope Butera, Joyeuse Sifa Ineza, Nicole Urwibutso, Odille Tetero, Rosine Micomyiza, Sabine Mugeni and Sandra Kantore.
