I&M Bank customers are now able to credit or debit their accounts without having to visit the Bank’s branch thanks to the Push and Pull platform which was launched on Monday, June 21, 2021.
The platform, which was developed in partnership with SPENN, will among other things facilitate clients to access their accounts 24/7 with an unlimited number of transactions and free of charge.
According to a joint communique released by the two financial institutions, the development comes as response to complaints from Bank clients about the charges on transactions between banks and telecom operators.
Speaking at the launch, Robin Bairstow, the Chief Executive Officer of I&M Bank Rwanda, described the move as a part of SPENN and I&M Bank agenda to facilitate online transactions.
"The Bank’s partnership with SPENN will enable customers using the Push and Pull service to seamlessly move monies from their I&M Bank account conveniently and safely,” he commented.
Norbert Haguma, the Country Manager of SPENN Rwanda, described the move as a new page between SPENN and I&M Bank partnership.
"We are very excited about the launch of push & pull between SPENN and I&M Bank, which marks new heights in the partnership between SPENN and I&M Bank (Rwanda) Plc. and gets us closer to our vision of banking the unbanked,” he noted.
His views were also echoed by Jens Glaso, the CEO of SPENN who said "The launch of push & pull between SPENN and I&M Bank marks a great milestone in our partnership to bring user friendly and free mobile banking to everyone in Rwanda”.
The push and pull feature also adds another piece of the puzzle in our ambition to empower all Rwandans to cashlessly access the formal financial services and support Rwanda in its mission to go cashless, reads the statement.
To access the push & pull feature, one must have an account in I&M Bank Rwanda and download the cost-free SPENN app and link it with their I&M account.
Push and Pull is now accessible to android phone users, but will soon be availed to IOS phone users.
In addition to Push and Pull, the SPENN application also grants access to other financial services like savings, money transfers, airtime purchases, payment of bills, payments in stores and deposit or cash out among other services.
In these times of uncertainty due to Covid-19, SPENN and I&M Bank said are working to ensure Rwandans have all necessary features on their SPENN application to allow them to transact money in the comfort of their homes, without the need to go to the Bank branch.
