A NEW SONG, ‘Away’, by Ariel Wayz featuring Juno Kizigenza released only on Friday, June 18, has drawn close to 200,000 views on YouTube.

The song has since taken over the local airwaves, overshadowing various songs released by Rwandan artistes over the last one week.

Speaking to The New Times on Monday, June 21, Ariel Wayz said she had been overwhelmed by the reception the song had received.

"It is my first song to receive such a huge reception,” she said. "I am so overwhelmed with joy and I do really appreciate the support that I am getting.”

The song talks about how being deep in love is a beautiful thing, driving lovebirds ever so closer and even going away together and never regretting their decision.

Reacting to the public’s positive reactions to his collabo with Ariel Wayz, Juno Kizigenza told The New Times, "It is obvious people really were looking forward to our collabo. We are so grateful because we put in efforts to produce something together for our fans.”

He urged fellow artistes to always put in a big shift in their musical projects, adding that the Rwandan music fans would never disappoint them.

Meanwhile, ‘Away’ was only one of at least eight songs that were released by Rwandan artistes over the last one week.

The others include ‘Kantona’ by Dj Pyfo Kantona featuring E.T and Kenny K-Shot, which was released on Sunday. It is mostly a summer song with romantic lines in it and talks about how a good boy should behave.

The other one is ‘I’m Blessed’ by Mucyo WaKera, which is about life.  "Reminding ourselves of our everyday blessings is a great way to practice gratitude. It helps us remember all the good things in our lives and keep us moving forward,” said Mucyo WaKera, who’s also a videographer with The New Times.

‘HONO’ by Alyn Sano is another one released last week. In ‘HONO’ Alyn Sano talks about men whose only focus is work and tend to forget that their partners need affection, urging them to strike a balance between work and love life.

‘AMABIYA’ by Mico The Best also came out last week. In it, the singer tells people who drink beer and other alcoholic beverages to always remember to drink responsibly and be careful while drinking so they do not end up regretting.

Scillah’s ‘OVERDOSE’ is another song released last week, and is appreciation for overflowing love.

Also released last week is a gospel song ‘ASANTE’ by Butera Knowless and Aline Gahongayire, which talks about God’s love and blessings. It is the only song on Knowless’ new album whose video she has released so far.

‘UMUGABO Remix’, by Young Ck - Shizzo ft Ish Kevin, Bull Dogg, M. Prime, Young Grace and Diplomat, was also released last week. The hip hop star talks about a hardworking man who takes care of his family.
