The Touch: Crown me…

Not so long ago, I gave up assumptions that hats are made for people who can’t afford to maintain their hair. An accessory reserved for bad hair days. It was right about this time that I fully understood the fashion limitation I was willing to be conformed in by living with that assumption.

Not so long ago, I gave up assumptions that hats are made for people who can’t afford to maintain their hair. An accessory reserved for bad hair days. It was right about this time that I fully understood the fashion limitation I was willing to be conformed in by living with that assumption.

Well, that was then. Now I fully appreciate good hats and their power to transform a person’s outlook. Hats can go a long way to finish complete a look, to help you stand out and to code you elegant. Hats are cool accessories but they can be really hard to pull off.

They are not any different from any other accessory; the key to wearing them is getting a balance. A balance in terms of choosing a hat that is suited to your face shape, body, and wardrobe. Your personality and sense of style greatly determine your choice of that perfect hat.

Hats are designed to fit your lifestyle and not the other way round. Someone once said show me your hat and I will show you who you are. I think what she meant was that whereas there are a range of hats out there; they are specific to personal tastes and choices.

The right hat is one that you look and feel great in. Try as many hats as possible before settling for any. With practice, you will get a feel for the hat shapes, designs, and colours that complement you.Different colour hats should be matched with the outfit. Make sure your outfit accommodates your choice of a hat.

Days are gone when we just had baseball hats and it was completely impossible to wear them unless for that lazy Saturday. Now we have knit hats, Cloche hats, leather, satin, silk, wool hats. It’s possible to wear one even for as formal event.

Cotton hats are your best bet for warm, dry or sunny weather. They tend to let in air protecting your head while aerating it at the same time. Wool, knit hats are better when it is cold out. They can help protect you from the chill and will maintain the warmth.

Hats are determined by your facial structure. If you have an Oval face, count yourself lucky because generally, any type of hat looks good on this type of face. There are other hats though that are designed for other face shapes. Flat caps work for round faces.

This shape can also get away with many types of hats. If you have a long face then stay away from high crown hats as they will make your head seem longer. A Flat crown will work for you better. Look great and feel great in cool hats. Make sure you opt for comfort and personality before buying that perfect hat.
