Performing artists, local and foreign, have been exchanging the stage during the ongoing 10th edition of Ubumuntu Arts Festival pushing the boundaries of artistic expression and cultural celebration while using science as an available mean to express their vision.

The multicultural event, taking place at Kigali Genocide Memorial&039;s Amphitheatre, is running under the theme "Integrity: Resilience in the Face of Adversity.”

The event is focusing on a couple of topics including the integration of science and technology into artistic performances which triggered ongoing discussions about the collaboration between scientists and artists in promoting culture and knowledge.

On July 23, the festival dedicated a day to explore the intersection of art, science, and technology. This segment, known as 'Creative Currents', featured engaging exhibitions, thought-provoking panel discussions, and innovative performances that demonstrated how these disciplines can intertwine to shape our world.

One standout performance was "Technology, a Boundless Art," a sketch written and performed by students from the Rwanda Coding Academy. The play presented an artistic potential of technology, showcasing it as not just a tool, but an evolving art form.

Through their performance, the students illustrated that each technological advancement adds depth and dimension to our shared human experience, much like colours on a canvas.

"Technology is just like this blank canvas, has no limits and yearns for contributions from all backgrounds. Imagine a vast, open field where people from every corner of the globe gather, each bringing their unique hue to the collective masterpiece,” the play reads.

"In this space, innovation flourishes, and every voice is heard, painting a future rich with diversity and boundless potential.”

Through the lens of these colours, you observe that technology is a dynamic and evolving canvas, continuously enhanced by the creativity, passion, and resilience of those who exercise it.

This is the story of how technology, much like a Rubik's Cube, tests our intellect, fuels our passion, and transforms our perspective with every twist and turn.

In the play, green symbolises 'Life.' It breathes life into our world, a proof of technology's power to nurture and sustain.

"Imagine a bustling city where smart technologies manage everything from energy to waste, optimising resources to ensure a sustainable future," the play argues.

Yellow symbolises happiness. It radiates joy, illuminating the moments when technology brings happiness into our lives.

Blue symbolises the pillar of stability. In the tech world, blue is the unwavering guardian, ensuring that progress is built on a foundation of trust and security.

Red symbolises boldness and persistence. It pictured a fearless inventor, tirelessly working late into the night, driven by the passion to perfect their creation. Red is the embodiment of boldness and persistence, the fiery determination that propels us to overcome challenges.

Orange stands for creativity, the vibrant energy that fuels our imagination and foresees a dynamic studio, where artists blend colours and shapes into stunning works of art. Similarly, in technology, orange represents the creative spark that transforms ordinary concepts into extraordinary innovations.

Lastly, white symbolises hope and inclusivity. The playwright argues that white is like an empty canvas, awaiting the vibrant colours of diverse experiences and perspectives. It’s the embodiment of hope and inclusivity, welcoming new faces, new ideas, and endless possibilities.
