Rwanda and Simba SC striker Meddie Kagere has dismissed reports linking him with a transfer to the club’s arch-rivals Yanga SC.

The Simba SC striker was on duty with the national team that played friendly games against Central African Republic. He was used as a substitute on Monday, June 7, when Amavubi thrashed Francois Zahoui’s team 5-0 at Amahoro National Stadium.

Reports in Tanzania indicate that Kagere is unhappy at Simba as he has been struggling for game time since former Rayon Sports head coach Didier Gomez da Rosa arrived at the club, pushing him to consider his future elsewhere, with Yanga SC a possible move for the striker.

However, Kagere, who has two months left on his contract, denied the reports saying that only he knows where his future lies.

"I can’t say anything about the transfer rumours because I have a contract with Simba. Some media outlets have been writing whatever they want but I am the only one who knows what I want at the club or whether I need another contract,” he told the media during a post-match press briefing on Monday.

I have no agent

When Simba got knocked out of the CAF Champions League by Kaizer Chiefs last month, football agent Patrick Gakumba reportedly told the media that Da Rosa was to blame for the club’s elimination due to not playing his client Kagere.

However, the former Yanga talisman made it clear that he is not represented by any football agent, including Gakumba.

"I don’t have a contract with any football agent,” he said.

Times Sport, however, understands that the striker parted company with Gakumba last month to manage all his deals on his own until he gets another agent.
