KEVIN ISHIMWE SEMANA, best known by his stage name Ish Kevin, is set to collaborate with Nigerian singer Joeboy. This came up following an Instagram message Joeboy sent the versatile Rwandan artiste appreciating his music.
Joeboy is signed under singer Mr Eazi’s record label "Empawa Africa.”
"Joeboy texted me, complimenting my music, and showed interest in working with me, that’s when we decided to work on a project together,” said Ish Kevin.
The 23-year-old, however, couldn’t say when the two artistes are likely to do the collaboration, only saying, "we are working on it.”
During the inaugural Basketball Africa League (BAL) season that concluded in Kigali just over a week ago, some of the celebrities who flew in to watch Africa’s best in the sport expressed interest in Ish Kevin’s music through social media. Besides Joeboy, DJ Poison Ivy is one of the other big names that singled out the young artiste for praise.
"Someone tell Ish Kevin that I’m looking for him,” tweeted DJ Poison Ivy, the official disk jockey for NBA giants Dallas mavericks, who was the official deejay of the inaugural BAL season.
The tweet caught the attention of many Rwandan celebs and triggered a lot of reactions from the public.
"Ish Kevin release some of your best projects now cause all eyes on you bro,” DJ Toxxyk tweeted.
Fans welcomed the idea of Ish collaborating with Joeboy.
"I am pleased with how his music is growing fast and I hope that this collabo opens opportunities for Ish and other upcoming artistes. I can’t wait to see him and Joeboy on the same stage,” Monic Mutoni, a student at Mount Kenya University and a fan of Ish Kevin, told The New Times.
Some of Ish Kevin’s most recent hits include ‘Toto Mtosso’, ‘Carina’ and ‘Amakosi’.
