Rwandan artiste Teta Diana is set to release an Extended Play (EP) titled ‘Umugwegwe.’
The singer in Sweden on a cultural exchange tour in schools of Skane Region, was recently promoting her previous Album "Iwanyu” in Rwanda.
She shared with The New Times more about the new release.
Why Umugwegwe as the EP title?
Umugwegwe is a strong message in my opinion, and it reflects, metaphorically, the situation we are currently going through which requires a lot of effort and courage.
How many songs are on the EP? How many are out already?
I will be releasing four songs digitally. Two are already out, ‘Agashinge’ and ‘Umugwegwe.’ But I will release a vinyl record with two bonus tracks, and the vinyl will be in limited copies. 100 copies to be bought by 100 fans. The vinyl copy will cost 100€.
Those 2 bonus tracks will be quite experimental and I won't release them anywhere else except on that record.
Where can people listen/buy the album? Will there be a release concert?
This EP will drop this coming Sunday June 6, on all streaming platforms.
I'm doing a quick hello on social media the same day. I am inviting everyone to join me live on Instagram. I'm preparing an online festival showcasing other musicians too. People can start following me on Instagram @tetadiananow. I will perform three songs live, but it's a set of multiple artistes as a way of reaching our audiences following from home. The event starts at 3:00 pm and ends at 7:00 pm (Kigali time).
I'm always up to something and I think before I even finish a project I'm already entertaining new ideas in my mind.
I'm looking forward to sharing my next concepts when I'm ready, just stay tuned.
