Rayon Sports have announced that Brazilian tactician Roberto Oliveira Gonçalves do Carmo, popularly known as Robertinho, will return to the club for a second spell as their new head coach for the 2024/25 season.
The development was made on Monday, July 22, during a Rayon Sports-SKOL Brewery joint press conference celebrating their 10-year partnership.
The event was held at the brewer’s headquarters in Nzove.
Robertinho, 64, returns to the club he coached between 2018-2019. It was under his guidance when the Blues last won the league title. He also guided the team to the quarterfinals of the CAF Confederation Cup before leaving the club for Kenyan outfit Gor Mahia which he coached during the 2020-21 season.
He later moved to Uganda where he spent one season with Vipers. He also coached Tanzanian giants Simba in 2023 and guided them to the CAF Champions League group stages.
Robertinho succeeds French coach Julien Mette who left the club in June after talks over potential extension of his six-month contract collapsed.
