Alki Oroklini central defender, Dylan Georges Francis Maes, is in the camp of the Rwandan national U23 team training with the team ahead of the first leg of the second preliminary round qualifier of the U23 AFCON with Mali on Saturday, October 22.
Dylan arrived in Huye on Monday, October 17, and held his first training session with the team on Tuesday, October 18. The team intensified training as it readies for the game on Saturday.
The towering guardsman joined Alki Oroklini in August 2022 from the second team of Portuguese outfit Amadora.
Born to a Belgian father and a Rwandan mother, on March 7, 2001, Dylan previously played for Beveren as well as Sintrense and was invited to the Rwandan U20 team for a qualifier against Zambia in May 2018.
He is one of the two foreign players called into the Amavubi U23 squad for the game against Mali. The other is Glen Habimana who plays in Luxembourg.
Rwanda edged Libya in the first qualifying round, on the away goal rule after losing 4-1 in Tripoli and winning 3-0 in Huye. Mali were exempted from that round based on their ranking.
The winner of the two leg encounter will qualify for the 2023 U23 AFCON in Morocco.
