AFTER OVER A YEAR without performing for their music audience, Adventist Church choir, Send Us God (SUG), have been rehearsing for months as they gear up to reconnect with their supporters through their upcoming virtual concert slated for Saturday, May 29.

Dubbed ‘Tunes of Gratitude’, the concert will be a thanksgiving event towards God for protecting Rwandans in general throughout the Covid-19 pandemic.

"As Christians, we are organising this concert because we feel it’s our calling to spread the Word of God. We thought that it was important to do something to thank God for what He did for us regardless of the critical times of the pandemic,” said Gisele Sandrine Irakoze, one of the choir members.

"During this period of the pandemic that has affected the world including Rwanda, our Choir thought of a way of encouraging people and providing a message of hope to people,” she added.

The choir has been rehearsing in a studio located in Remera since December last year and therefore, according to Yves Nkaka, the choir’s coach, they have enough package to give the best they can to their audience.

"It will not only be about music because we will take time to share the story with our audience about where we came from, where we are now and our future. We will also thank God poetically,” Nkaka said.

The concert will be held live on the choir’s YouTube channel (Send Us God Choir)  from 4 pm till 6 pm.

Founded in 1996, Send Us God choir is a youth-led group of singers based in Seventh Day Adventist Church at Kibagabaga English Church.

It was originally  singing at Muhima Seventh Day Adventist Church as an Adventist Youth group known as ‘Les Etoiles’ group.

They later changed to ‘La Lune’ before they rebranded to Send Us God in 2004.

The choir has served in different spiritual campaigns and ministries such as church construction, Hospitals construction, TMI (Total Member Involvement) evangelistic fellowships.

The choir has three albums under their belt, including their debut album ‘Uri Uwera’ that they launched in 2009, ‘Nyobora Mwami’ which they released in 2014 and ‘Imbaraga z’Amaboko Ye’ that came out in 2017.
