Just days after electing a new committee to spearhead its activities for the next four years, the National Paralympics Committee has postponed the third phase of both the Sitting volley ball and Sit ball national championships.
The two events were initially scheduled to start on April 18 and 19 respectively, four days after the Genocide mourning week.
But the new committee decided to postpone the dates May 2 because most of the players that feature for the different clubs are students, who will be on school holiday by the time of the original dates.
"Most of the teams that take part in these competitions (Sitting volley ball and Sit ball) are made up of students, so we had no alternative but to change the dates,” NPC president Dominique Bizimana told said. Over eight clubs will take part in the third phase of the Sitting volley ball and Sit ball championships.
The clubs include; Huye, Musanze, Intwari Kivu, U.N.R, Rusizi, Gatagara, Karongi, T.H.T and Nyanza.
