Thursday US Monastir 99-77 Rivers Hoopers
Tunisian giants US Monastir have sealed their spot into the quarter-finals of the Basketball Africa League (BAL) after outplaying Nigeria’s Rivers Hoopers 99-77 on Thursday evening at Kigali Arena.
Monastir, who beat GNBC of Madagascar 113-66 in their first game on Monday, were the third team to advance to the knockouts of the two-week tournament after Rwanda’s Patriots and Petro de Luanda of Angola.
Power- Forward Radhouane Slimane led Monastir with 23 points, while Wael Arakji and Major Ater added 17 and 12 points, respectively.
Home side Patriots and US Monastir, one of the title favourites, face-off in their final group game on Saturday. With the two sides already qualified for the last eight, they will be fighting for Group A top spot.
